Our Centres

IT ALL STARTED WHEN … George and Simone thought about what they wanted for their children when they were pre-school age. They are such busy years. They wanted Wee Nippers to have a balance of play and learning, adventures inside and outside, and to support families and their busy lives.

“We wanted our preschools to share our values - pride in what we do, seeking to understand and support the people around us, respect for others uniqueness, energy in everything we do and freedom to play and express ourselves.”

Learning and play can come from the simplest things. “We learnt so much about this when our children attended a wonderful Montessori pre-school and have wanted to emulate this approach to nurturing joyful, caring and self-motivated learners.”

“As working parents we understand what our Wee Nippers parents and whānau need to support their busy lives. We believe that supporting families and whānau will benefit our community’s development now and into the future. “

Our children live in a dynamic world and we want them to have the confidence to master all that it has to offer. Our Wee Nippers reflects childhood in Aotearoa New Zealand whilst also drawing on the richness and diversity of modern New Zealand.

Our Centres

Located in Invercargill and Mosgiel, both Centres are purpose built and privately owned. Invercargill opened in November 2012 and Mosgiel August 2015.  We offer full-day education and care for tamariki aged 3 months to 6 years old.  Both Centre’s licensed hours are 7:30am – 6:00pm Monday to Friday.

Each Centre is positioned on more than 2000sqm, with spacious buildings of more than 550sqm plus enclosed, all weather verandahs.  The Centres have four classrooms each with its own covered verandah space.  Two classrooms have individual art/resource rooms, staffrooms and non-contact meeting rooms, whānau, kaimahi and kaiako bathrooms and changing rooms along with two sleep rooms, one specialised pepe sleep room and the other an over two sleep room.

The Centre’s have outdoor playgrounds of more than 850sqm which are separated into two areas.  There is a commercially fitted out kitchen providing daily meals for the Centre, and a laundry.  The Centres were built to high specifications and are resourced accordingly.

The majority of our whānau live within the Invercargill and Dunedin city boundaries.  We have steady roll’s that cater for a maximum of 85 full time equivalent children at each Centre and a team of around 60 team members across both Centres.
